In 2019, Pope Francis instituted Word of God Sunday to be celebrated yearly on the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time. According to his Apostolic Letter “Aperuit Illis”, the day “is to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the Word of God.” After all Masses this weekend, please pick up a copy of “First Corinthians, Second Corinthians” as a gift from the parish. The more we can discover about the Apostle Paul and the Corinthians, the better we can understand the message’s relevance for us today who believe that somehow this correspondence contains God’s revelation. We are fortunate, for no other New Testament document reveals so much about the writer and his addresses as Paul’s correspondence with the Corinthians. (Corinthians p. 5) We hope you will join us in celebrating Word of God Sunday today!
