As I announced at the Masses last weekend, Msgr. Prus has informed me that he no longer feels able to continue to assist our parish by celebrating Mass on a weekly basis. While it saddens me to make this announcement, I certainly understand Msgr.'s need and I am very, very grateful for his decade of faithful service to St. Mary's. There were very few weekends in those ten years when Msgr. was not here taking one or two of he Masses. His gentleness as a confessor, his reverent celebration of the Mass and his insightful homilies have left an incalculable legacy to St. Mary's. His constant presence will be missed—but Msgr. has graciously assured me that he will still be available to cover a Mass in a pinch. I have assured him that he remains part of the St. Mary's family and will always be invited to our special events.
On Saturday, September 21, Msgr. will be back to celebrate the 4:00 Mass, after which we will have a reception for him in Murray Hall, in the Parish Center. I hope you will be able to come on the 21st to thank Msgr. for so generously sharing his priesthood with us for so many years.
