St. Mary’s-Stony Hill “Food for the Needy” program gives an opportunity for parishioners to help others in the local community. Parishioners may participate in this program by helping to prepare these meals and/or by making a financial contribution to buy products specifically used in the preparation of the meals by parish organizations.
The Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (SHIP) is a Somerville-based program that provides the homeless with warm meals. The meals are served by SHIP at local shelters and from SHIP’s mobile soup kitchen.
How you can help: St. Mary’s Church has been active in this program for many years. We are asked to prepare and freeze nutritious meals in aluminum trays. A link to the recipes is included above, or feel free to prepare your own recipe. Please label the prepared meals with the type of food provided and the date that it is frozen. Frozen meals may be brought to the parish office at any time during "office hours" to be kept in our freezer until the monthly delivery to SHIP. If you have any questions, contact Larry Latore at 908-370-3538 (or the parish office).
