Children's Liturgy
Liturgy of the Word is a weekly supplemental program designed to meet the needs of the children of the parish ages 4 - 10 by allowing them to hear the Sunday Gospel proclaimed in a language they can grasp and involving them in the process of faith formation. The Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) resumes this September. During CLOW, the children leave the sanctuary during the Liturgy of the Word to hear the scripture readings proclaimed and explained at an age-appropriate level.
This program follows the Religious Education Calendar and is offered at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Before the First Reading of the Mass, the Celebrant gathers the children and sends them forth with their catechist to Fr. Platt Hall, where the parent volunteers lead the children in a prayerful, age-appropriate discussion of the Scriptures. The children rejoin their families in church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
All necessary background information and teaching ideas are provided for the volunteers, who work in teams that serve on a rotating basis. For more information on this program, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Religious Education office.
